The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN | Art is a full-frame prime lens built specifically for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras — engineered from the ground up for the short flange-back distance of mirrorless systems rather than adapted from a DSLR design. The result is a compact, lightweight 35mm prime that delivers the optical performance and tactile controls of a professional Art-series lens in a package well suited for Sony A7, A9, and FX-series cameras.
At f/1.4 maximum aperture with a 15-element, 11-group optical formula using FLD, ELD, and SLD low-dispersion glass alongside two aspherical elements and Super Multi-Layer Coating — the DG DN | Art produces sharp, high-contrast images with well-controlled aberrations, smooth bokeh from its 11-blade rounded diaphragm, and reliable weather-sealed construction for outdoor and location use.
Compatible with Sony full-frame E-mount cameras. On APS-C Sony cameras it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Optical Design Built for Mirrorless
Unlike adapted DSLR lens designs, the DG DN | Art uses a 15-element, 11-group construction — including one FLD, one ELD, and two SLD low-dispersion elements plus two aspherical elements — optimized specifically for the short flange-back distance of Sony E-mount. This produces noticeably better corner performance and aberration control compared to DSLR-era 35mm f/1.4 lenses adapted to mirrorless.
Fast, Silent Stepping Motor AF
An integrated stepping motor provides quick, near-silent autofocus well suited to both stills and video shooting. Face and eye detection AF works on supported Sony cameras, and the smooth AF algorithm reduces hunting during video recording. The lens is not focus-by-wire in manual focus mode — the focus ring provides direct mechanical feedback.
Tactile Physical Controls
The aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture transitions during video recording and locked to prevent accidental changes during stills shooting. A dedicated AFL button on the lens barrel can be reassigned to additional functions via the camera menu. A focus mode switch allows instant AF/MF switching without entering the camera menu.
Super Multi-Layer Coating
Suppresses flare and ghosting in backlit and high-contrast lighting conditions. A water and oil repellent coating on the front element resists smudging, moisture, and fingerprints — easy to wipe clean in the field.
